5 Charlotte freshman who should be on your Radar

Charlotte, NC – Gone are the days when freshman had to wait their turn to become impactful on the varsity level. Thanks to the game of basketball now famously becoming a ‘year-round’ sport, a handful of players are now able to come into high school immediately ready to contribute. Here are five Charlotte freshman that we are watching in the 2019-2020 season.

Jaylen CurryVance High School – At nearly 6’0, the speedy left hander is a nice replacement for former Vance guard Brandon Biedleman. With the loss of Biedleman to graduation, the Cougars will need to replace a large chunk of offense. Curry (fittingly named) will fit the bill.

Trey Green – Vance High School – Head Coach Brian Frasier must be salivating at the mouth with the young core he currently has in place. As a combo guard that knows how to play on and off the ball, Green will pair well with backcourt mate Jaylen Curry.

Wesley Tubbs III – Northside Christian Academy – Northside has seen it’s fair share of basketball talent walk through its doors. Tubbs, at 6’5, is no exception. The multi-position player plays hard nose defense, which is a staple when wearing a Knight uniform. Even scarier is that he may not be done growing yet.

Caleb Foster – Hickory Ridge High School – The wealth of big point guards spreads out to Harrisburg, NC as Hickory Ridge has one who is ready to run the offense beginning day 1. With a strong young nucleus in place, the Ragin’ Bulls are setting themselves up to be in the Southwestern 4A title mix in the near future.

Callum Richard – Gaston Day School – Solid young big men are hard to find. Which puts 6’9 center Callum Richard on the list. Richard will seamless fit into head coach Trent McCallister’s offensive game plan which heavily focuses on playing inside out.
