Charlotte – How do you slow down an Invasion team that wants to play quick, uptempo basketball? The Carolina Lady Rush (1-1) of Raleigh,NC appeared to have found the answer in their aggressive and physical style of play as they kept the game against the Charlotte Invasion (2-0) close through the first half of Saturday’s game at Phillip O’Berry High School. The Invasion rose to challenge. They entered the second half attacking rebounds on both ends of the floor, diving for every loose ball and swarming on defense. Elements of which the Lady Rush could not draw up a game plan for. Through two games, the Invasion have now outscored their opponents 160-104.
The Invasion play a style of basketball resembling current NBA Champions, Golden State Warriors. A team with an abundance of unselfish passers, elite finishers at the rim, dangerous three point shooting; a potent mix for any opponent. Last week the Invasion defeated the Beaufort Bisons at home by 28 as the Bisons often appeared overwhelmed. This week was more of the same. The much bigger Carolina Lady Rush played physical, hoping to counteract the Invasion’s speed with power. It didn’t work.
The Invasion will be on the road for the first time this season as they will travel to Baltimore, MD to take on East Coast Division foe Baltimore Lions Saturday May 19, 2018 at 2pm.
