Charlotte,NC – Ardrey Kell’s top player has been suspended indefinitely amid reports of a racial slur used on the social media network Snapchat. The three point specialist, a white American, has averaged 19 points per game this season for the Knights. The junior has also led his team on an improbable run through the 2019 NCHSAA playoffs most recently defeating defending 4A state champs Independence on Saturday night on the road setting up a showdown with West Charlotte tonight at Vance. He also holds a scholarship offers from Western Carolina and has taken visits to Wofford and Furman.

The reported comments are deeply concerning given today’s racial climate and that the Knights’ basketball team is comprised of a large number of African-American players. According to the Charlotte Observer, Ardrey Kell staff, parents and the player have all apologized for the incident. More to come on this developing story.
