Charlotte, NC – One of the biggest games of the Iredell-Mecklenburg conference went down Friday night at Mallard Creek in front of a packed out house at ‘The Creek’. Both teams came in at 4-3 in conference play, looking to keep pace with conference leading North Meck for the regulary season title. Vance (14-3) looked to avenge a surprising December 15, 2018 loss to the Mavericks (10-8) in which they were defeated 78-72 at home.
After a pretty evenly contested first half, the Cougars took a 28-26 lead into the locker room. The second half proved to be ‘Biedleman’ time as the floor general took over the game in crunch time getting to the basket at will. The 5’10 guard finished with a game high 27 points, to go along with eight steals and four assists.
The Cougars efficiently played ball control in the fourth quarter, moving the ball around the perimeter to milk the clock out, not allowing the Mavericks to establish any kind of rhythm on offense.
Vance’s tough stretch will continue Tuesday night as they hit the road to Huntersville, NC to face a very tough Hopewell team.
