High School

Charlotte’s Top Ten High School basketball standouts you must see during the 2018-2019 season.

1.  Wendell Moore  – 6’5 guard  Cox Mill High School in Concord,NC – With a wide variety of skills, the two time 3A state champion holds scholarship offers from nearly every major program in the country including favorites Duke and UNC. Could Moore follow former Cox Mill teammate Raechon Black to UNC?

2.  Jae’lyn Withers – 6’8 forward North Meck High School in Huntersville,NC – Son of former West Charlotte High School and Charlotte 49ers standout Curtis Withers, Withers combines grace with athleticism on the wing.  The 49ers have offered Withers. Would be interesting to see if Withers will follow in his father’s footsteps to play at Halton Arena.

3. Patrick Williams – 6’6 forward  West Charlotte High School in Charlotte,NC.  The Lions never seem to fall short on quality basketball players. Williams is no exception. Williams posseses excellent ball handling skills paired with an unstoppable mid-range game.

4.Donovan Gregory – 6’5 guard Carmel Christian in Charlotte,NC. Gregory led Carmel Christian to its first state title in school history after narrowly defeating Gaston Day 74-72.  Gregory plays harrasing defense with an uncanny knack for getting to the backet on offense.

5. Jaden Springer – 6’4 guard Rocky River High School in Charlotte,NC. The rising junior continues to turn heads with his ball handling, shooting and above-the-rim style of play. After leading the Ravens to the state semifinal a season ago, Springer will look to carry the same momentum to the 2018 – 2019 season.

6. Marten Maide – 6’4 guard Carmel Christian in Charlotte,NC. Maide has committed to play under Coach Ritchie McKay at Liberty University in Lynchburg,VA. Maide. The three point specialist wows with a solid footwork and ability to play off the ball.

7. Andra McKee – 6’3 guard Independence High School in Charlotte,NC.  Mckee excels in his ball handling skills, is a willing passer,  great shooter to go along with lock down defense. Not much else you can ask for from a point guard.

8. Tristan Maxwell – 6’3 guard North Meck High School in Charlotte,NC. This agressive shooting guard and son of 13 year NBA veteran Vernon Maxwell is catching attention from college coaches across the country. Known for his driving ability and strong shooting, Maxwell is on track to be one of the top guards in the area.

9. JC Tharrington – 6’0 guard Charlotte Christian in Charlotte,NC.  Tharrington hustles on both ends of the court and is a superb shooter behind the three point line.

10. Jaden Bradley – 6’1 guard Cannon School in Concord,NC.  Bradley is already being touted as the nation’s #1 point guard in the class of 2022. Great all skill set and smart player to watch on the court.
