West Charlotte locks down on defense to knock off Garinger in home opener, 89-54

Charlotte,NC – The Garinger Wildcats (0-2) seemed to have an answer to solving the nightmare matchup West Charlotte (1-1) presents with its huge front court featuring 6’8 Florida State signee Patrick Williams. The Wildcats packed the paint on defense, using a tight zone to force the Lions to run their offense around the perimeter. The Wildcats jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, which would end up being its biggest lead of the game before the Lions got hot in the first quarter led by Quinton Thomas and won big, 89-54 .

West Charlotte Lions guard Quinton Thomas was on fire early in the gameTuesday night showing off an array of dunks, causing Lion fans to jump to their feet with excitement. The 6’4 high-intensity Thomas played lights out in the first quarter on both ends of the floor, forcing turnovers on defense and getting out on the break offensively to force Garinger into a dizzying pace. Thomas finished the game with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Thomas has received offers from Division II National runner-up Queens University, Southern Wesleyan, and Lenoir-Rhyne just to name a few.

The Lions will be on the road Friday night to take on West Meck before a huge game Saturday night at Vance against the undefeated Charlotte Christian Knights.
