Charlotte,NC – After losing arguably the best point guard in the nation last season to graduation, many wondered who would step up to replace the loss of current Kansas Jayhawk Devon Dotson. No Dotson? No problem for Chargers Head Coach Brian Field. In comes Davidson Day sophomore transfer Cyncier Harrison. A strong, left-handed floor general who gave Providence Day (1-1) the boost it needed to assist in handing United Faith (1-1) its first loss of the season, 62-54. The Chargers found themselves trading buckets with its South Charlotte foe for much of the night Tuesday at the Mosack Athletic Center. Led by a pair of athletic 6’7 forwards on the wings in Jason Thompson and Anjay Cortez, the Falcons appeared to have its way attacking the paint on offense and easy deflections on defense. The Chargers, however, were not to be outduelled. Despite fast moving double teams thrown his direction, Harrison who finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists, found the open lanes, distributing the ball to knock down shooters on the perimeter.
Providence Day appears to now be in good hands as they look to capture a mind blowing seventh straight conference title this season.
The Chargers will be in action next Monday Night at the MAC as they play house to Southlake Christian Academy of Huntersville.
