Charlotte, NC – Musa Jallow will begin the next chapter of his playing career in Charlotte after spending the last four seasons at Ohio State. Jallow chose the Niners after beging contacted by at least six schools once he entered his name in the transfer portal. Charlotte coach Ron Sanchez was one of the first coaches to contact Jallow, who ironically enough, recruited Jallow to Virginia out of high school in 2017.
The 6’5 guard will have two years of eligibility remaining after two surgeries on his right ankle forced him to miss the entire 2019-2020 season. Immediately after recovering from his ankle surgery, Jallow tore two tendons in his right hand which limited his shooting ability during the 2020-2021 season. Jallow spent the season averaging just under three points per game while suiting up for 26 games. A fresh started was needed and Sanchez was eager to offer the opportunity. “When I entered the portal he called me immediately and was like, ‘I know the kind of player you can be. This place can really help you get to where you want to get to,’ ” Jallow told the Columbus Dispatch.
During the Niners media day, Jallow was limited in team activities. However if he can remain healthy, Charlotte stands to gain another explosive guard who can provide a spark off the bench, allowing Sanchez to go deep into his guard rotation and spare Jahmir Young from having to play the bulk of the minutes. The Bloomington, IN native excels on the defensive end but can also have double-digit scoring nights if given the opportunity.
As for Jallow, he still remains hopeful that he can take his play to another level here in Charlotte. “For me personally, I’m going to get to work this summer and show everybody that I can hoop,” Jallow told the Dispatch.
